Prayer Tip: Walking by Faith

Have you experienced a time when you were particularly impressed that you heard a promise from God for a particular need/request…. and then it didn’t happen?

What does faith say then?

I think of Job (13:15) after losing his children, possessions, and health, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.”

Or the 3 Hebrews faced with the fiery furnace, Dan. 3:17-18 “17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

Habakkuk 3:17-19  17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. 19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.

When we don’t understand and it feels like our need goes unmet, our tendency is to ‘give up on God’ and look somewhere else for help or simply despair that there is no help.  Consider the disciples’ response.

John 6:67-69  67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69 We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”

KEEP ON BELEIVING.  For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Rom. 10:11  Remembering that His ways are much higher than ours and His purposes are much bigger and more glorious than ours.
