Prayer Tip: God Still Waits – Fast and Pray

“Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, and with fasting weeping and mourning; and rend your heart and not your garments.” Now return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness and relenting of evil.  Joel 2:12-13

God, who determines the times and boundaries of nations, is giving US a little more time to reject the head-long pursuit of our own way and return to acknowledging Him as the source of our freedoms and the many blessing we have enjoyed as a nation.

And what is the key to our nation’s return to acknowledging God as God? We (the church) are.

…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.      2 Chronicles 7:14

Let’s pray for ‘godly sorrow leading to genuine repentance’ (2 Cor. 7:10) for ourselves, our local church, and the church in America. And for this to happen, we need to experience ‘fear of God’, whatever that is. (see Psalm 36:1-2 NIV)

So I PRAY that the church in America and we as a nation come to know ‘fear of God’.
